story.
Freelance Scenic Artistry has pulled me in so many directions, as an alumni of the BA arts degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, I am naturally drawn to the bold and fantastical world of Theatre. I have had the pleasure of working with various theatre workshops over the years, but have recently forged new ventures in the Film and TV industry. Being a varied profession, it allows me to apply nuanced skills and techniques needed for the individual tasks and challenges each job brings.
My work has also lead me into Mural painting and collaborative installations, this art form is unlike that of a set for stage or screen as its permanence sets the stage for a more emotive and involved method of work as well as that of the response from the audience and/or public.
“Scenic Art is a specialism that encompasses all types of applied arts, including the freedom to use an unlimited range of materials to interpret and bring designers dreams and visions into reality. This ever-changing skill set makes this profession a creative adventurer’s dream.
I love working on large scale projects — like large cloths or huge set pieces — this allows the most freedom and expression when it comes to applying paints and textures, I also find a great sense of satisfaction and accomplishment when completed as they are so much more visually dynamic and impressive.”
